FEEDING SERVICES

Our multi-disciplinary team of feeding therapists work collaboratively in order to address a range of issues relating to paediatric feeding disorders, through to fussy/picky eating. Our feeding team has completed additional training in the area of paediatric and infant feeding in order to be able to provide this service to the Port Pirie and wider region.

Paediatric feeding concerns can be related to a medical presentation, feeding skills, nutritional issues, and/or be psychosocial in nature. Our feeding therapy team will work with you to provide a comprehensive assessment and treatment support.

Reasons for referral for infant feeding may include:
• Difficulty with breastfeeding or bottle feeding
• Difficult latching
• Parental nipple pain or damage
• Fatiguing with feeds
• Coughing, spluttering or gagging while feeding
• Biting or chomping at the breast or bottle
• Bottle/breastfeeding refusal
• Blood in stools
• Difficulty starting solids by 6 months
• Enteral feeding e.g., NGT, PEG

Reasons for referral for paediatric feeding may include:
• Inadequate food variety
• Known nutrient deficiency
• Growth concerns
